About Me
I first became fascinated with the brain when my grandmother developed multiple medical problems after a traumatic accident that changed the trajectory of both her health and quality of life. I learned firsthand that holistic care, which takes into account psychosocial factors that influence health and well-being, is integral to quality health care. My practice as a neuropsychologist today is centered on this care model, as changes in memory and thinking can be frightening. I take time to understand not only the concerns that brought a patient to the clinic but also their background, social support system, and ability to cope. Neuropsychological evaluations consist of paper-and-pencil tests of memory, attention, and other cognitive skills that can take a few hours. The goal is to understand areas of strength and weakness and assist with the diagnostic process or evaluate the risk of certain surgeries. Recommendations on how to compensate for weaknesses and increase well-being are then tailored for each patient.
