As Fox Tech High School nears the end of the Construction Documents phase, last week SAISD Construction and Development Services hosted a Design Review meeting. During the meeting, department leaders and trades experts within the district carefully review the documents and provide feedback for the project architects and engineers. The goal is to ensure the construction documents meet governing industry codes, SAISD's Technical Design Guidelines and Educational Specifications, as well as district policy. Once the Construction Documents are completed, the Construction-Manager-at-Risk will put the project out for bid.#SAISD #Bond2020 #FoxTechHS #majorrenovations #designreview #constructionprocess #constructiondocuments

With school out for the summer, #Bond2020 work is moving along at Longfellow Middle School. Work is progressing on the new competition and secondary gyms (shown in video clip). Also this week, wall framing and sheathing were underway in the main academic building. A portion of the renovated academic building is expected to be ready for move-in in September, with work continuing on other parts of the building. The new gyms are expected to be completed in spring 2025.#SAISD #SanAntonio #LongfellowMS #bondprojects #upgrades #campusupgrades

“When I finish this internship, I’m going to take the test to get my general certification, and then from there, I’m going to continue on with airframe and powerplant and then hopefully get a job somewhere,” Soly Gutierrez said. “One thing about aviation, the community is not super big. Just having networking and connections, it will really help to get a job. I’m open to anything now that I have the familiarity and experience with planes I had never seen before.”#saisd #saisdproud #saisdfamilia #aviation #internship #trade #certification #senior #graduate #highschool

Kevin Mora then started looking at his options, which led him toInternational Teach Alliance, a teacher exchange program based in the U.S. Already in his second year, Mora now teaches Spanish and social studies to 6th and 7th graders at the Eloise Japhet Academy in San Antonio, Texas. In addition to earning praise from his students, Mora has been recognized by the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) for his work, which is quite an accomplishment for someone who had to acclimate to living in a new country by himself.“I don't have any family here in Texas or anything,” he says. “The lifestyles are different, so it was kind of scary at the beginning. I wasn't really sure that I was going to make it."(CLICK BELOW TO READ MORE) #saisd #saisdproud #saisdfamilia #teacherexchangeprogram #internationalteachalliance #colombia #inspiration #student #spanish #socialstudies
