Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (2024)

TAG DER TOTEN

(Some pictures in this section provided by YouTube channels: Glitch, AC Omega, GRIZZ Viollent, Jason H Gaming, Joemet123, MrRoflWaffles, and MysteryHQ).

Welcome to the finale of Black Ops 4 Zombies! If you've been following along chronologically, congratulations on powering through to the end! This map is a remake of the Black Ops 1 Zombies map, Call of the Dead, and it also contains a lot of the same layout, but with some new things thrown in to keep the gameplay interesting. Thankfully, for your last outing in this mode, things are much easier compared to maps like Blood of the Dead or Voyage of Despair. Let's get into the features of the map.

MAP FEATURES:

POWER

Tag Der Toten has three different Power Switches to turn on to fully power the map. Here's where they can be found:

Switch 1 - Docks, in front of you when you first spawn into the map.

Switch 2 - Bridge, where the power switch is in the original Call of the Dead map. On the top floor of the ship in the room with a buyable door.

Switch 3 - Human Infusion, on the bottom floor of the facility. You'll have to grab the zipline handle from the Hermit at the top of the Lighthouse to get up to this switch.

PERKS

Brew - Lagoon, near the spawn.

Cola - Artifact Storage, up the stairs from the red orb in the room.

Soda - Stern, When using the stairs to enter the ship from the Beach, on the ship deck, go right through a door.

Tonic - Decontamination, In the Facility, through the right doorway in the entrance.

PACK-A-PUNCH

Unlocking Pack-A-Punch is an extremely simple process. We need to first turn on the Docks and Bridge power switches in the map, shown above. You will then need to melee and grab a blue rock from the cave leading from the Lighthouse down to the Beach, also known as the Lighthouse Approach area. It can be on any of the walls so if you see a large blue object that looks out of place on the walls, melee it and it should fall down on the ground for you to grab, like so.

When you have the rock, take it to the top level of the Lighthouse, and the Hermit living at the top of the lighthouse will winch down a board for you to place the rock on. Do so, and he will take it back up to him. Now, Pack-A-Punch will move between one of four areas on the map, and the lighthouse's beam will be pointing in the direction of where it is. Here are the four locations:

Lagoon, just slightly branching off the spawn room for this map.

Beach, in the original Call of the Dead spawn.

Boathouse, behind the lighthouse.

Artifact Storage/Sunken Path. To get to this one, you'll have to go into Artifact Storage in the room with the large red orb. Look to the left of the red orb., then look up. Above the path to Pack-A-Punch, there should be a large blue pipe. Shoot the pipe, and it will spill water on the fire blocking your way, allowing you to access Pack-A-Punch in this area.

ZIPLINES/GOLDEN PACK-A-PUNCH

Even better than regular Pack-A-Punch, this map introduces a brand new feature, Golden Pack-A-Punch. This machine is only available occasionally during the game and is located on a secluded island, only accessible by jump pad. The machine costs 5,000 points, but when you place a weapon in, it will fully upgrade it to max upgrades for just 5,000 points, instead of the typical accumulative 15,000. It's extremely useful, so make sure you get it active ASAP, and whenever it does appear, make sure you head there if you have the points to upgrade. Be careful though, as the island will get infested with tons of zombies while you are on it, so only go out if you're going to upgrade something. Here's how to activate it:

First, make sure the regular Pack-A-Punch is active. Once that's done, we'll need to set up two ziplines to use so the Hermit will give us the zipline handle. To do this, we'll need to find the zipline cranks, and crank the ziplines in position. Here are the two zipline locations, and where the cranks for each can be found:

Zipline 1 - Sun Deck

The crank for this location is in one of three locations in the Stern area.

Just to the right of the Cola perk, leaning on this wall:

Leaning on a box, in the tiny hallway in front of the Cola Perk.

Starting facing the Cola perk, turn right and walk following the edge of the ship. It should be leaning on the edge here.

When you've found the wheel, place it on this crank. Then hold Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (17) on the wheel until it doesn't tell you to do so anymore and the zipline will be in place.

Zipline 2 - Main Deck

The crank for this location is in one of three locations in the Forecastle area.

On the ground near an open container with some barrels.

Leaning on an object to the left of the Auger wall buy.

Leaning on a generator near the Forecastle Mystery Box location.

When you've found the wheel, place it on this crank. Then hold Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (22) on the wheel until it doesn't tell you to do so anymore and the zipline will be in place.

(Thanks Glitch on YT for some of the pictures in this section)

When you've readjusted both ziplines, head back up to the top of the Lighthouse and wait a second. The Hermit should send down the zipline handle on the board. Grab it, and you will be able to use ziplines all over the map now. To get Golden Pack-A-Punch, we will want to use the zipline that leads to the facility on the outside ring of the lighthouse.

When you've made it to the Facility, make your way inside, and get to the main area with the large vault and the lower level with the Power Switch. Activate the switch and Nikolai should mention that there is now enough power for Golden Pack-A-Punch.

The lighthouse will occasionally point out to the island, and Nikolai will usually comment when Golden Pack-A-Punch is available. To get to the island, go to the Sun Deck and there will be a jump pad just outside the room where you flipped the power switch in the Bridge. All players in the game will need to stand on the jump pad to access Golden Pack-A-Punch.

For an achievement, you will have to use Pack-A-Punch at all five locations in one match, meaning all four normal locations, and the Golden Pack-A-Punch location. I would recommend using normal Pack-A-Punch for one weapon, and saving Golden Pack-A-Punch for a different weapon. If you're able to access and use the machine at all five locations in one match, you will unlock:

  • Pack Your Bags

In Tag Der Toten, pack a weapon at all PaP locations in a single match

SHIELD

To build the shield, there are three parts that each have three possible spawn locations. Here are all the possible spawns for the shield pieces:

Part 1 - Docks:

Leaning on this tall gas pump:

Leaning on the boat in the water, just to the left of the power switch.

Leaning on the ice shards, just past the boat.

Part 2 - Lagoon/Frozen Crevasse:

Frozen Crevasse, using the ice shards in the water, jump up to the side with glowing blue rocks and it will be leaning on the ice.

Frozen Crevasse, using the ice shards in the water, jump up to the side with some boards and it will be leaning on the ice.

Lagoon, leaning up against a rock near the Pack-A-Punch location. If the machine is not here, in it's place will be a large icicle popping out of the ground.

Part 3 - Lighthouse:

Lighthouse Level 1, leaning on a wall near some boards.

Lighthouse Level 2, leaning on the wall to the right of the number 2 on the lit up wall.

Lighthouse Level 3, leaning on a railing across from the door outside.

When you have all three parts, I recommend building the shield in the Lighthouse Station area.

(Thanks Glitch on YouTube for the pictures in this section)

SNOWBALLS/DYNAMITE

Tag Der Toten introduces a new grenade to the map, snowballs. Pick them up and you can throw them at zombies to freeze and shatter them. Snowballs are always available to pick up. In other words, they never run out. This grenade will stack on top of whatever grenades you currently have equipped, so if you use all the snowballs in your inventory, you will get switched back to whatever grenade you had at your disposal. Snowball piles are littered all over the map, hold Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (42) on one to pick them up.

We will also need to use these snowballs if we want to build the dynamite sticks in the map. These sticks are usable to break open certain barriers in the map to make traversal easier, and also for some easter egg steps later. To get the pieces for the dynamite, you will need to have snowballs equipped. In the normal rounds of zombies, there will be flame zombies that will occasionally spawn in. You will have to throw snowballs at these zombies to kill them, and when you do they will drop one of three pieces to build a stick of dynamite.

When you have three of these pieces, I would recommend taking the pieces to the Gangway on the large broken ship to build it. This is a hallway just a small walk away from where the Soda perk is.

To use the dynamite, go up to one of the three barricades below and hold Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (46) on them to place the stick of dynamite. Back up, and it should blow up, with the path now being clear. Here are the three barricades to use dynamite on:

Lighthouse Cove, leading towards the Beach.

Lagoon, leading to the Sunken Path area of the map.

Outside the Facility, on the walkway.

SAMANTHA'S MUSIC BOX

Samantha's Music Box is a new grenade option in the map that can be acquired after a short quest. To start, you will need to make your way up to the Facility part of the map after acquiring the Zipline Handle. Once you've made it, turn on the power in the area. You will now need to locate two keycards. One from the Specimen Storage are and one from the Decontamination area. Here are each of the locations for both areas:

Decontamination:

1. In a dryer.

2. In an eye-flushing station.

3. In a sink.

Specimen Storage:

1. In some post boxes.

2. In a toilet, in the cells.

3. On a rack with some canisters, to the right of the safe for the Vril Device.

Grab one keycard from each area, then head to the Security Lobby, and place the two keycards in the two slots to the left of the front desk. Wait a few seconds, then the key cards will be ejected out of the slots. Grab both of them, then head down to the Human Infusion area. To the left and right of the large vault will be two slots you can once again place the two keycards in. Once they are both placed, walk right up to the large vault door and hold Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (56) on it to start a lockdown sequence.

Survive for about a minute against the zombies that spawn in, and eventually, the vault door will open, revealing the Samantha Music Boxes for you to grab. This will replace whatever grenade you have currently equipped, so keep that in mind.

WUNDERWAFFE

There is also a new Wunderwaffe variation introduced in this map. You can acquire it out of the box, or complete a mini-quest to get one for free. To start the mini-quest, you will need to find and shoot down an icicle in one of three locations. You will then need to grab it. Here are the three locations:

Outside the cave with the blue rock in it, heading down towards the Beach.

Outside the stairs on the walkway, in the Lighthouse Cove area.

Outside the platform on the main deck of the lighthouse, just before the stairs to the door.

Once you've shot and grabbed the icicle that's fallen, take it over to the Forecastle of the large freighter, and at the end of the ship is going to be a cooking pot set up. Hold Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (61) on it to place the icicle in the pot. After about a minute has passed, the icicle will melt and you will be able to grab a key from the pot.

Now, you will need to realign the two ziplines to get the zipline handle from the Hermit, the guide is above if you need it. Once you've gotten the handle, head up to the Facility. Inside the Facility, you will need to head to the Specimen Storage area. Inside the area, you'll find a safe on a desk, which you'll need to interact with.

Inside will be the Vril Device from the original Call of the Dead map. Now, you will need to lure zombies near the safe and kill them so the Vril Device takes their souls. Eventually, the Vril Device will be glowing inside the safe and will stop taking souls. When it does, interact with it to grab it. Now, head back over to the Hermit in the Lighthouse and place the Vril Device on his plank he winches down to you. When he gets the device, he will send down a Reward Key. Grab it, and just to the right of the plank, on the ground, there will be a reward chest you can open, revealing the new Wunderwaffe.

TUNDRAGUN

The Tundra Gun is a variation of the fan-favorite Thunder Gun from previous zombies maps, with a new icy twist. You can acquire one out of the box, or you can complete a mini-quest to get one for free. To acquire this weapon we will simply need to throw snowballs at five different targets in a certain order. Here is the order and locations of the targets:

1. Outside the Specimen Storage area, above the doorway outside.

2. In the lagoon area, inside one of the tunnels.

3. Sun Deck, just outside the power room doorway.

4. Lighthouse Level 3, on the staircase support beam.

5. Cargo Hold, in the water after taking the zipline.

Once you've hit all five targets in order, the Tundra Gun will appear in the box to the left of the last target for you to grab.

CHALLENGE TOTEMS

Around the map, there are five challenge totems that you can activate to start trials to give yourself rewards. To power them, you will need to talk to the Hermit and give him the blue rock as he requests. Here are the five totem locations, and what each one will ask you to complete. Make sure that you grab your rewards, as the next challenge will not start until you do.

Lighthouse Station Challenge Totem:

  1. Kill enemies with headshots and collect brains. (Reward: Carpenter Powerup)
  2. Kill enemies with a Shield bash. (Reward: Full Power Powerup)
  3. Pick up pee jars in Lighthouse Level 4 and empty them in the Beach water. (Reward: Self Revives)
    • These pee jars are at the top of the Lighthouse in the room with the Hermit's plank that he winches down to you. You will have to grab them, then walk (NO SPRINTING OR JUMPING) with them down the lighthouse all the way to the water in the Beach area. Hold Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (70) in the water to dump the pee. Repeat this until the challenge is done.

Beach Challenge Totem:

  1. Kill enemies with snowballs. (Reward: Bonus Points)
  2. Kill enemies using the Lighthouse trap. (Reward: Insta-kill)
    • This is activated outside the Lighthouse, near the entrance to the Boathouse.
  3. Complete 3 S.O.S. messages (Lighthouse, boat entrance at Beach, boat entrance at Sunken Path) with snowballs. (Reward: Break Ice faster)
    • To complete a message, you will simply need to throw snowballs at the parts of the letters "SOS" that don't look fully white. If thrown correctly the snowball will stick to the sign, as shown in the above picture.
    • Locations for the three SOS messages you need to complete: Beach (above picture), Lighthouse (near Lighthouse station totem), boat entrance at Sunken Path.

Forecastle Challenge Totem:

  1. Kill enemies while standing still. (Reward: Carpenter Powerup)
  2. Kill enemies with melee attacks. (Reward: Fire Sale Powerup)
  3. Find soup ingredients, add them to the cooking pot, and add water. (Reward: Armor Powerup)
    • Here are all the locations for the soup ingredients:

1. Gangway

  • Red booth seat

  • Island countertop

  • Bar countertop

2. Beach

  • Wooden barrel

  • Bush

  • Thompson wall buy

3. Boathouse

  • MOG wallbuy

  • Heater

  • Oven

Grab all the ingredients, then head back to the Forecastle, and at the very end of the ship, there will be a cooking pot above a fire. Hold Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (82) on the pot to place the ingredients you grabbed. Then, to add water, throw a snowball in the pot.

Loading Platform (Facility) Challenge Totem:

  1. Fling zombies. (Reward: Insta-kill)
  2. Kill zombies while riding a zipline. (Reward: Team Full Power)
  3. Complete the Whack-a-mole station using only snowballs. (Reward: Traps are half-price)
    • The station is near the totem outside. Throw a snowball at the target to start. You'll then use snowballs to hit all the targets that pop up.

Frozen Crevasse Challenge Totem:

  1. Kill enemies while standing in freezing water.
  2. Shatter frozen zombies.
  3. Play the Hermit's favorite tune on the bells in Docks. (Reward: Increased snowball storage, from 6 to 10)
    • For this challenge, I would recommend turning on subtitles. The Hermit is going to sing a song. The note letters will be read to you in the subtitles. Write down the letters in the order you get them, then go to the Docks. There are only four notes possible: C, G, A, and E. Here are the four bells for each note:

Bell Note C

Bell Note G

Bell Note A

Bell Note E

If you are able to complete all fifteen challenges above in one game, you will unlock:

  • Abnormal Energy Bill

In Tag Der Toten, light up all the totems in a single match

FREE 500 POINTS

As a little side reward, and to honor a legendary figure for all of zombies, George A. Romero, go to the Lighthouse Station area. On a table, there will be a pair of large glasses that each player in the game can hold Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (94) on to give themselves a free 500 points. Rest In Peace, George.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Are you ready for the easiest 15G you'll earn in this game? To do this, simply throw four snowballs in a row at any one of the four bells in spawn, and you'll unlock the next achievement. Go to the Challenge Totems section if you need help locating one of the four bells.

  • Bell of the Snowball

In Tag Der Toten, ring all four bells with thrown snowballs in under 12 seconds

Easy, right? Same with the next achievement. Simply use snowballs to kill five dog enemies when they appear, and you will unlock:

  • Fetch

In Tag Der Toten, kill 5 Hellhounds with snowballs in a single match

And, if you're in a co-op game and doing the above achievement together, you will most likely unlock this next achievement. If not, get a Tundragun using the above guide and horde up a group of zombies. If you horde up enough and freeze ten zombies when you shoot into the crowd, you'll unlock:

  • Everybody Freeze!

In Tag Der Toten, freeze 10 zombies at once in a single match

This next achievement requires you to use all ziplines on the map without killing any zombies or going down. Now, this achievement description is a little confusing. It does not mean you can't kill any zombies or down in the game AT ALL, it simply means from the time you take your first zipline, you cannot go down or kill any zombies IN BETWEEN the time it takes using the other lines until you've used them all. So, just be careful after starting the zipline uses.

Now, there are a total of nine ziplines to use across the map, and I will post a video below showing all of them you will need to use to finish this achievement.

If you followed the video above, then you will unlock:

  • Lifeline

In Tag Der Toten, use all ziplines without killing an enemy or going into last stand

The next achievement is also pretty tricky to do. This requires you to open up all the doors and pathways on the map without turning on the power. Make sure not to touch any switches, as there is no way to shut the power off once it is on. This achievement is tricky, as it requires you to build three different sticks of dynamite, open all 23 doors on the map, and put out the fire that leads to the Sunken Path Pack-A-Punch location, all without power or perks. There are three doors from the spawn area, five doors out of the lighthouse, seven doors on the massive freighter ship, four in the Facility area, one in the Lighthouse Cove area, one another leading out of the Cove area, going back towards the large freighter ship, one in the cave with the blue rock, and one going from the Beach to the ship.

You will also need to construct three sticks of dynamite and blow open all three pieces of debris marked with red Xs on them, which you can see the locations for up above. Finally, head to the Artifact Storage area of the map and shoot the blue pipe above the large fire near the outside area and it should dump water on the fire below. After completing the list of items above without touching any power switches, you will unlock:

  • Going Green

In Tag Der Toten, open all paths without turning on the power

1 guideGuide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (115)Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (116)Guide for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Zombies (117)

This next achievement REQUIRES the Strife, so I would highly recommend starting the game with the Strife as your starting weapon. Now, you will want to make your way through the map until you are able to get to the Facility. I would recommend making your way to the Loading Platform on the other side of the Facility for this tough shot. We will now need to use the Strife to shoot a jar on the top deck of the Lighthouse. It is nearly impossible to see, and I would highly recommend getting a sniper to line up your shot and at least figure out where the jar approximately is. Use this image as a reference:

When you've lined up the shot, shoot the area with the Strife and pray that you hit the jar. If you did, you'll unlock:

  • Mile High Jug

In Tag Der Toten, break the jar on top of the lighthouse with the Strife

For our last side achievement, we need to do a side secret easter egg on this map. This is not for the main easter egg; that is still on the next page. This is for something else entirely, which is also a bit complicated to pull off. We will need to get up to the Facility and we will need to use dynamite to destroy the barricade on the platform. Once this is done, head into the area that was previously blocked off and you will see a flinger on the ground, with a broken fuse box.

Grab the broken fuse box, and bring it to the Hermit. After some time, he will give it back to you, repaired. Take it back to the flinger and place it where you originally grabbed it. Now, the fun part: Getting the flinger to send you to the secret is our next step, and it is, frankly, a bit inconsistent. Some people say it works better in co-op, some say they did it alone. So many methods have been developed to get this to work as intended. Unfortunately as well, only one person per game can acquire this achievement. Here's a video of a method on how to get yourself to the island solo, and how to navigate the cave:

Eventually, you may get frozen in the water, so just continually melee until you free yourself. Now, keep swimming until you eventually come to a beach looking at Mars. When you've made it to this beach alive, you should unlock:
